Founded in the 12th century by the Scottish King David I the Kers of Roxburghshire have a long association with Jedburgh Abbey.  Here can be found the Ker crypt containing a number of memorial stones to the Kers of Ferniehirst and the Lords Jedburgh. Many of the stones were engraved during the late 19th century. Set in the remains of a medieval chapel this is a fascinating and an important destination for all Kerrs.

The tomb of Sir Andrew Kerr of Ferniehirst, 1st Lord Jedburgh 1574-1635 can be seen in

the Kerr crypt at Jedburgh Abbey
